The Biggest Highlight of 2007

Came into the world on November 30, 2007

She was 19" long and 7 lbs 5 oz

Misa you got me up at 3:30 A.M. with some contractions I thought it was more of the Braxton Hicks contractions so I went back to sleep. Only you got me up ten minutes later. I decided to get up and walk around the house. I even read about labor on the Internet. The Contractions were getting stronger and closer together. A little after 4:00 A.M. I woke up your dad and he timed the contractions. We decided it was time. I called your Papa Bud, but no answer. I then tried Gramie's phone. It rang once and a contraction came and I hung up. Grant then suggested that I call Grandpa Akagi. (He only lives next door) He came over and stayed with your brothers. 

We arrived at the hospital at 5:00 A.M. I got checked in. The nurse checked me and I was dilated to a 8. I asked if they called Dr. Yamashiro and they told us that they would call the doctor who was on call. I turned to Grant and asked him to call Dr. Yamashiro. He had given your dad his cell phone number a few weeks before. Your dad was going to send him a text message and I firmly said "No you need to call him." So being the good husband he is he called Dr. Yamashiro. The doctor even knew it was your dad and he said that he was on his way. I was so happy to see the doctor fifteen minutes later. The nurses were surprised that we had called him and that he came. 

We talked for a minute and had a few laughs. I had a great nurse. She got me through every contraction. I asked Dr. Yamashiro if he would break my water or if we needed to wait and have it break on its own. He told us that if he broke the water you would come faster. That was all he had to say. I had  him break my water. Your delivery was one of the hardest, but I was more under control than the others. Between each contraction we would talk about our families and joke around and when I would announce that a contraction was coming the room would go quite and the nurse would help be do my breathing. It seemed like it would never end.

 However you made your grand entrance into the world at 6:05 A.M. one hour after arriving at the hospital.  I was so happy that I cried you are a dream come true. Dr. Yamashiro was very impressed with us. We did everything natural with no pain helpers of any kind. He even put us in the top ten of all of his deliveries. He even stayed in the room after and helped clean up. We talked about how well every thing went. I have never seen a doctor stay and clean up after a delivery. Your dad  went up with you to the nursery to get your first bath. Dr. Yamashiro even went to see you with your dad. We were so blessed to have such a great doctor deliver you. 

We had our own family time before your dad sent out an email announcing your birth. Grandpa Akagi brought your brothers over to see you. Our other family and friends who came to see you were Gramie and Papa Bud, Melody, Todd and Karen, The Harris and Schramm Families.
