At noon we all headed out to Draper for the Akagi New Year's party. We always have a great time visiting with everyone and the food is always great (if you like Japanese food.) They even have a game of basketball. Grant always enjoys the game, but he realizes that he is getting old and is out of shape.
After the party we went over to Doug and Janis house. Will and Seiji played with Logan and Lindsay. When Grant was finished playing basket ball we all went to the mall. Except Doug stayed home. Yoshi bought a pair of pants at Hollister and I bought some pants for Will. Logan did the nicest thing for Seiji. He bought Seiji an ice cream cone with his own money. Seiji is very lucky to have such a nice cousin.
After the trip to the mall we stopped by Grant's parents house to get a heater for Yoshi's room. He is always freezing in the basement. We waited in the van so Grant just to run in and get it, but Seiji decided he wanted to go in. When they came out Seiji had a pocket knife for him and one for Will. We also made a quick stop at Grant's sisters house to pick up a baby carrier for Misa.
When we got home I started to make a Japanese soup called Ozoni. It is a soup that you eat on New Years so you will have good luck through out the year. As I was making the soup I heard a scream. Grant and I ran to see what had happened. We saw Seiji holding his hand and blood dripping onto the floor. He said he cut his finger with the pocket knife that he got from Papa Bud. I took him into the bathroom to put a towel on it. I freaked out so Grant came in and took over. Thank heavens, because I don't do very well with things like that.
I went back to making the soup. Grant told Seiji that we should have had the soup sooner so he would have had bad luck. After Grant got Seiji clamed down and the bleeding to slow down we looked at his finger. It was really bad. Grant put a coat on Seiji and took him to the hospital. They were gone for a few hours. Grant was really nervous that they would have to give Seiji stitches. Because Seiji would freak out. But the good new was the he didn't need any!! The doctor said that they could stitch it up, but it could heal on it's own. He told Seiji not to get it wet and he shouldn't take a bath.
When Seiji got home he had a cool bandage on. The first thing I was told was that he couldn't take a bath. Seiji finally took a bath two days later. I put a special bag on his hand so it wouldn't get wet.
Poor Papa Bud got in a lot of trouble from Gramie. At first I was upset, but Yoshi said "mom it isn't Papa Bud's fault Seiji should have been more careful." With those words I was ok. Hey on the bright side Seiji has learned a very important lesson about playing with sharp things.
We still Love you Papa Bud!!!!
